Friday, June 9th, 2017 07:31 pm finally happened. I deleted my LJ.
I'll miss some of the the things LJ had but that new TOS was just too much.

In other news, we got a new kitten. Her name is Mithril and her hobbies include, sleeping, eating, and running around the house like her tail is on fire.

Our cat Nefertari left us today.
She was only seven years old.
The Queen Herself )
We adopted her from a coworker when she was two. We got her because at the time Jemma was home by herself while I was still working and she was lonely. Nefer was just the most lovable, tolerant cat. She never clawed even when I had to give her a bath and she loved to sit in Jemma's lap.

I noticed a lump on her jaw yesterday and took her to the vet. A whirlwind day of tests and surgery later and it turned out not to be an abscessed tooth, as I had hoped, but cancer in her jaw. The vet told us that the bone had deteriorated so much in another week or so Nefer might have actually broken her jaw on her dry cat food.

There was nothing to be done except put her to sleep. It was a hard choice but I'm not sure there was anything else we could've done.

Rest in Peace, Nefertari. Your name means Beautiful Companion and you were truly that. The most wonderful, beautiful companion we could've had. Thank you for coming into our lives. We are sorry you had to leave us.

So I got Pokemon X and a 2DS for my birthday. It arrived early on the 7th but you can guess what I've been doing since then.

The highlights so far include:
Freaking the hell out when I hit Rt. 10 and there were wild Eevees. Yeah, I caught like 10 of them and proceeded to get all the eevelutions that I could. I need to breed them now because I want a shiny Sylveon.
Catching my very first shiney ever. It was a bellsprout.
My reaction when you find out what Team Flare is really up to. It was something like this: o.O O.o -_-
My reaction to the ending. It went something like this: Yeah, yeah, battling let's you see, whatever.... O.O
Catching Xerneas with my first Ultra Ball
Catching Mewtwo with my first Quick Ball

And now I've discovered Wonder Trade. Which is wonderfully addictive. I've gotten a shiney Honedge from it.
Also, about a million more Eevees and Charmanders.

So if anyone needs me, I'll be chasing that frickin' Moltress all around Kantos.

I cannot count the number of times I've opened up the "post a new entry" window and failed to post anything.

I could talk about Skyrim. I've played tons of that. I have so many characters and stories.
Or the randomized games of pokemon which have stories themselves. I think I've only "beaten" the game once with a random party. I really want to try again though.
Or the new game of FFV I just started.

But then I figure that no one wants to hear about that so I end up posting nothing at all.

The one thing of interest, at least to me, was a massive sort of writing binge I went on a couple of months ago. I managed to hash out a huge chunk of a story bug that bit me. It's sort of Urban Fantasy I guess with vampire hunters. It's been fun and I really want to write it out from start to finish. There's a bit of research to be done and a timeline to hash out though.

I guess another problem is actually having the energy to try and put stuff together and post it. It takes a surprising amount of thought to figure out how to phrase that funny thing that happened to me in Skyrim in a way that others would find amusing.

So....stuff. Things. Sometimes they are funny things. Hopefully I can summon the brain power to make more random babbling posts to clutter up friend's pages.

I need to get better at that.

Still sick.
However there are signs that I'm getting better and I've got some new stuff that seems to be helping with the migraines. I've been writing more the past three months and it feels good to do so.

Someday I may be able to use a mood other than tired or exhausted. Someday.

Sooooo, yeah, Hi, I'm around.

Still alive. Still playing way too much Skyrim. Still losing weight.
That about sums up my life of late.

Seriously though this weight loss program is shit. Sit on the couch, eat and sleep, lose weight. The hell?
I'm pretty torn about how to feel about it. On one hand I do feel good to be back at a weight that makes me feel good about myself. On the other hand how the hell did I manage to lose weight when I'm doing shit all? It's kinda creepy. I do hope it stops soon.

On a more postive and creative note, I made a thing. The art is from [ profile] bigbigtruck, it was a commission from AGES ago of one of my OCs. I made a new desktop with it.

I feel pretty proud of it anyway.
That's all for now. Watch out though, when I manage to get my brain together you'll probably get to read long boring posts about Skyrim. Aren't you excited?

So I haven't posted in...forever.

Sorry about that. Life has been difficult. My health is pretty poor and I'm still unemployed so I haven't had much to say except herp derp and holy crap I'm enjoying Skyrim.

My dad got my Skyrim for my birthday and I've played the ever loving shit out of that game. It has its flaws don't get me wrong but oh man do I love running around the world punching dragons on the nose.

Other than that it's pretty much been low key and me trying to get well. I was supposed to take the train up north to see my family but Sandy flooded the tracks and then I got hit hard with migraines, nausea, and backpain. I hope to get up there sometime in early December, maybe for my Dad's birthday.

Anyway, that's all here. I'm still around, just pretty low and tired. Although I am getting better. Slowly, but it's happening.

Anyway, it's November! NaNoWriMo time! So that's a bit of sunlight into the old life. If my camera worked I'd regale you with the adventures of NaNo Turtle.

Lucky for you it doesn't work. Also lucky for you I didn't post tons of boring entries of Skyrim joy. Maybe I should do that. Hmm...

I am in fact still alive and I should really come back and post here.

The news that is news from casa del turtle is meh.

Lost my job a few months ago and haven't been able to find a new one. The lack of new job is mostly because the Lymes kicked me in the head. Trying to get well enough to work again.

So yeah, if anyone knows of any jobs that one can do from home, preferably on a laptop that doesn't involve being a telemarketer, lemme know.

So how's that end of the world thing going for everyone else?

In case you missed it, the world was supposed to end today but at 4:20 EDST the world seems to be spinning right along.

Just remember, none may know the hour of its coming. Sorry, Camping, that means you too.

So to celebrate the lack of the world ending I'm having some Chicken teriyaki and wine for dinner and tomorrow we're going to the circus!

And you know, if you know anyone who actually believes in this stuff, give them a serious and well meaning hug tomorrow. We need more love in the world.

And so with the ending of October comes Halloween, Candy and the dawn of November and with November comes NaNoWriMo.

I was all ready this year with two note cards with short notes about characters. Their names, who they were, what they were doing, etc.

Now those notecards have gone missing on me.

I still have the basic plot in my head and it won't be hard for me to figure out their names again, or give them new ones, whichever comes first. But I know there were other little notes on there about what I wanted to happen, or scenes I wanted to include.

Hopefully I'll find them in time to start my NaNo this year.

Everyone else ready?

Yep, I don't post in ages and then I post about this.

On one hand I'm laughing. I'm laughing really hard. End time prophesies with dates have existed for as long as the calendar, a quick look at the wiki can tell you that.

On the other hand, I'm sad. I'm really sad for these people who get caught up in this, the fear, the hope, and then perhaps more fear and despair as they either believe that they are unworthy or come to understand that it hasn't happened.

It's just sad.

So everyone have a good Saturday. I'm sleeping late. If Jesus comes a second time he won't be too bothered to see me in my nightclothes.

And if you know someone who really truly believes in this stuff, when you see them on Sunday morning, give them a hug.

I was thinking about this the other day, I'm not sure why, but I felt the need to write about it. I'm cutting because its random and a wee bit sad. Feel free to pass it on by.

Yeah, so I'm bad at this whole updating thing. My facebook is just as neglected.

The new year has been fine so far. Nothing catastrophic has happened which I'm just fine with.

J has had a decline but we're in an upswing now. Hopefully she'll keep getting better and better.

I meanwhile have recently had my fatigue get worse. I need to keep reminding myself that I'm not being lazy when I can't get up in the morning, something is wrong and its not my work ethic.

I'm exhausted all the time, can't get up no matter how much I do sleep, don't feel rested, and generally pretty much feel like I could sleep for a week. I mean I can go to bed at 9 wake up at 11am and still feel exhausted, that's just not normal.

Anyway other than that the new year has been ok. Looking forward to having more energy!

So this year was ok.
I managed to actually take one picture a day, every day. I think I've learned a lot. I intend to continue but not posting every day. I might post once and a while but right now I need a bit of a break.

Also, I've had Lymes for about a year now. I'm pretty far down right now, but its always darkest before the dawn, as they say.

I'm pretty proud of myself for keeping at least one resolution.

So farewell 2010 we had some good times and some bad times. Hello 2011, let's have a good one shall we?

My spam folder caught this, but I was rather amused.
Tricky, well not really )
Contact me and we'll give you you're money. Sneaky in that this email address the scam and says that you must've been caught, so you can get money now. They don't ask for anything up front, but I have a feeling that once you start contacting them they'll start asking for things.

So tempted. So tempted.

This made my day. I mean really guys?
Onto the spam )
All I can say is they must have a great scanning system. Right through a package to detect a couple of million. Clearly the post office is using those airport scanners.

The Holiday cards are sitting on my dresser giving me forlorn looks. My energy is pretty poor so I'm going to try to get those out but if you get a card this year its likely to just be signed with no note.

Its not that we don't love you and 60 odd cards isn't a LOT in the grand scheme of things but my energy is crap. I really just don't have the energy for this. The only thing that keeps me from calling it all off is I LIKE sending out cards and there are some people I really want to send cards too.

I hope to get them out this weekend, which means they'll be late. New Year Cards!

The editing is going slower. I opened the story once to look at it. I think I can save it by doing my first rewrite and ignoring the Steampunk and history parts and try to mimic the tone of a Chinese story. THEN I can go back and touch up the rest.

So I managed to cross the NaNo finish line. My biggest problem this year was not really knowing my genre. I wanted to write Steampunk and I quickly realized that I have NO idea what Steampunk really IS.

So this novel is Steampunk of Steampunk is "Fantasy with Airships Thrown in There Oh and Pocket watches and Pirates" which I really don't think it is. What I really need to do is get some more research on my time period so that I can throw some historical stuff in there to help the setting. Then what I need to do is pretty much write in the same Universe as Four Jade Seals.

In that novel I was't so much worried about history as mimicking the feel and tone of Chinese novel. If I can do that with Bright Wisdom then I can toss in some Steampunk and Three Kingdoms and blend well and get something that I'm more happy with.

Life is erm. Life. It hasn't been all that great. Job is fine, boss is awesome. But I've been pretty exhausted with my condition and J isn't really getting better. I'm using a lot of my energy to care for her, which I couldn't, wouldn't, and will not change so that leaves me pretty unable to edit.

I'm going to give the editing a go and maybe if I get something I like I'll get it posted for all of those folks who expressed interest. I will work on this story a bit. I just need some time away from it so I can see the good bits.

Well not really.

So I started my NaNo. Its less steampunky and less Three kingdoms peroid then I would really like but sometimes you just have to write and let the details get filled in on the rewrite.

I am somehow mostly on schedule. I'm trying to get one or two days ahead since I know I will have to take time off to cook on Thanksgiving.

So back to the NaNo. Its going. Steampunk is often in the setting and I don't find myself driven to write about settings as much as I should be. You'd think with NaNo and the need to pad word count so you can just write frantically I would have no problem going into raptures about giant ornate steam driven dragons.

I just go into raptures about the pillow someone is sitting on. Doh!

There's always the rewrite!
